Overview

Rat CD4 MicroBeads have been developed for positive selection or depletion of CD4
+
cells from lymphoid organs, such as spleen and lymph nodes, from peritoneal fluid or single-cell suspensions of lung, liver, kidney, nerve, and heart tissue.

Detailed product information

Background information

CD4 is expressed on most thymocytes, T helper cells, CD4
+
regulatory T cells, as well as on a subset of dendritic cells and, at a lower level, on macrophages and monocytes.

Downstream applications

T cells isolated with CD4 MicroBeads can be used for
in vitro
analysis, for example, of cytokine expression or antigen specificity. Functionality of the isolated cells has been shown by several adoptive transfer experiments.
 Transfer of isolated CD4
+
 and CD8a
+
T cells into irradiated recipients results in donor-specific acceptance to heart transplants
or type V collagen-induced tolerance to lung allografts
. Furthermore, autoimmunity and induction of tolerance after xenogeneic thymus transplantation was studied by adoptive transfer of T cells separated by MACS® Technology.
